One Weekend. Two Stages. Endless Coastal Adventure.
Be one of the first to run Australia’s newest trail running stage race.
Australian trail runners are about to experience something completely new as Trail Run Australia unveils the country’s newest coastal trail running stage race in the spectacular surrounds of Tomaree National Park, Port Stephens.
Taking place over two unforgettable days, the new 2-Day Trail Run Australia Port Stephens Stage Race invites runners to experience a true stage racing adventure, tackling two unique courses across one incredible weekend, while exploring some of Australia’s most breathtaking coastal landscapes.
From the rugged headlands and flowing trails of the northern Tomaree Coastal Walk to the iconic beaches, dunes and singletrack that have made Trail Run Australia Port Stephens a favourite on the Australian trail running calendar, competitors will experience two distinctly different stages that together create one unforgettable journey.
Unlike traditional single-day trail races, the Stage Race format rewards consistency across both days, with cumulative times determining the overall winners. Runners can choose from four two-day distances, including the 58km Ultra, 42km Marathon, 25km TRA25 and 14km TRA14, while those unable to commit to the full weekend can also enter either stage as a standalone event.
One of the biggest attractions of stage racing is the opportunity to achieve something you may never have thought possible. By spreading the distance across two days, runners can take on bigger goals one stage at a time, discovering they’re capable of more than they ever imagined. Whether you’re chasing your first marathon, dreaming of becoming an ultra runner or simply looking for a new challenge, the Stage Race offers the perfect opportunity to go further than you’ve ever gone before.
Event Director Robyn Lazenby said the introduction of the Stage Race marks an exciting evolution for Trail Run Australia.
“Stage racing has become one of the most exciting formats in trail running around the world, and we’re thrilled to introduce this concept to Port Stephens.”
“Rather than simply running one great course, competitors get to experience two completely different sides of Tomaree National Park across the weekend. Every stage tells a different story. It’s not just about the finish line—it’s about the journey, the places you’ll discover and the memories you’ll create along the way.”
The adventure begins on a brand-new opening stage through the northern section of the Tomaree Coastal Walk before finishing with the iconic TRA32, featuring Birubi Beach, Samurai Dunes and the spectacular coastal trails of Tomaree National Park.
Whether you’re chasing a personal best, your first marathon, your first ultra or simply an unforgettable weekend on the trails, there’s never been a better time to become part of Australia’s newest trail running stage race.
